July 5: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 112 new cases of confirmed infections (43 imported cases, 11 in Guangdong province, 8 in Fujian province, 4 in Tianjin municipality, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Jiangsu province, 3 in Chongqing municipality, 3 in Yunnan province, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Shanxi province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Jiangxi province and 1 in Hubei province, including 3 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Guangdong province and 1 in Zhejiang province; 69 indigenous cases, 52 in Anhui province, 7 in Shaanxi province, 3 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Shandong province and 1 in Guangdong province, including 9 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 8 in Anhui province and 1 in Shandong province), no deaths, and 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai municipality).
On July 4, 34 patients were released from hospital after being cured (27 imported cases; 7 indigenous cases, 4 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Shanghai municipality and 1 in Guangdong province). 4,048 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 1.
As of 24:00 on July 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 19,528 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 19,213 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 315 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on July 4, the National Health Commission had received reports of 226,035 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 220,199 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 610 confirmed cases (1 case in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 4,286,571 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 61,704 were still under medical observation.
On July 4, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 306 new asymptomatic cases (40 imported cases; 266 indigenous cases, 179 in Anhui province, 66 in Jiangsu province, 7 in Fujian province, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Shandong province, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Shaanxi province and 1 in Liaoning province).
On July 4, 72 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (51 imported cases; 21 indigenous cases, 6 in Liaoning province, 6 in Jilin province, 4 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Shanghai municipality). 12 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 3 imported cases). As of 24:00 on July 4, 1,774 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 384 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on July 4, 4,233,207 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 339,164 in Hong Kong (9,405 had died and 64,265 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 400 in Macao (2 had died and 83 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 3,893,643 in Taiwan (7,025 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
