The Suzhou Industrial Technology Research Institute signed an agreement with Suzhou New District on June 22 to set up the city's first innovation base in the region, local media outlets reported.
The base, with the aim of helping Suzhou conceive its own innovative industrial clusters, will focus on high-end medical equipment, integrated circuits, software and information technology, and green and low-carbon industry applications.
It will also be responsible for the construction of professional research institutes, the incubation of scientific and innovative projects, the introduction and training of entrepreneurship and innovation professionals, and the practical application of scientific and technological achievements.
Agreements for a number of scientific and technological projects, such as a Yangtze River Delta robot innovation research institute, a special sensing technology institute, and a silicon carbide power semiconductor characteristic technology research institute, were also signed at the event. They will be the first construction projects to be carried out at the base.
Sun Lining, an academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering who will lead the core team of the Yangtze River Delta robot innovation research institute, praised the talent, technology and capital innovation ecology developed by SND, which provided the foundation for the local robot industry.
