Yizhou seeks more cocoon silk investment in Shenzhen, Dongguan

A delegation led by Zhai Hongling, deputy mayor of Hechi and Party secretary of Hezhou's Yizhou district, visited Guangdong province to discuss the local cocoon silk industry chain from June 14 to 17.

Seminars and on-site tours were held with five enterprises in Dongguan and Shenzhen that have expressed interest in investing in Yizhou Light Textile Industry City. 

Zhai gave an overview of the latest developments regarding Yizhou's distinctive agricultural product industries, such as cocoon silk, during the visits. She also expressed hope that enterprises will explore industrial transformation and upgrading to bolster the development of the whole industry chain, promoting the industrialization, scale, as well as information development of Yizhou's agricultural industries.

Yizhou Light Textile Industry City is a light industrial base specializing in cocoon silk with an overall scale at the 100-billion-yuan ($15-billion) level with approval of the State Council. The 1,100-mu (73-hectare) city will attract 500 enterprises with total investment of 5 billion yuan. 

Upon operation, it will attract enterprises managing raw materials, wool spinning, and garments from provinces like Guangdong, Jiangsu, as well as Zhejiang. Its annual output value is projected to reach over 25 billion yuan.

It is expected that the city will be the closest one to ASEAN and sea ports in Southwest China with the most complete industrial chain for cocoon silk and garments.

Zhai added that Yizhou is reasonably close to Dongguan and has convenient transportation, which makes it an ideal place for Dongguan enterprises to settle in. Customized services provided by the Yizhou district government will also be available to major enterprises.
