On June 17, the National Development and Reform Commission lauded 15 prefectures and cities for being proactive and effective in their poverty-alleviation relocation work in 2021, of which Hechi was the only city in Guangxi to receive the honor.
Hechi had relocated 176,209 people during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), accounting for one-quarter of the city's total impoverished population, which has made a positive contribution to the poverty alleviation work in Hechi and Guangxi.
Since 2021, Hechi has made efforts to arrange follow-up works for resettlement sites. The city has implemented seven follow-up service projects, spanning grassroots organization construction, infrastructure support, public facilities support, training and employment, industry development, culture and sports, as well as social governance.
The works for resettlement sites have achieved good results. For example, the cultural tourism reform and innovation case of Yao township in Nandan county won the 2021 Guangxi cultural tourism reform and innovation excellent case. Damou town in Dahua Yao autonomous county was rated as a Guangxi tourism and leisure block. Dunu community in Nandan county won the honor of being included in the third batch of Chinese minority characteristic villages. The west community of Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county was also designated a municipal ethnic unity and progress demonstration village in 2021.
