As temperatures rise in the spring, farmers are busily engaged with their spring plowing on a turnip plantation in Nongan county, Jilin province.
Under the premise of ensuring regular COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control, farmers sow 3.3 hectares of seeds daily with the help of machines.
Despite the recent outbreak in Jilin, the province is making efforts to ensure the smooth progress of spring plowing. Transportation departments, for example, have adopted measures to ensure smooth movement of farm vehicles.
The province organized the travel of farmers stranded in the cities of Changchun and Jilin to their hometowns for plowing. Related departments also launched online training courses to help answer farmers' questions about agricultural policies and technology.
According to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the gradually rising temperatures have brought suitable soil moisture in some regions. So far, sowing is complete on around 14,466 hectares of land.
The province reported 166 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases and 376 asymptomatic carriers on Sunday, said the provincial Health Commission on Monday. Of the confirmed cases, 144 were found in Changchun, 14 in Jilin city and eight in Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture.
Of the asymptomatic carriers, 348 were identified in Changchun, 21 in Jilin city, three in Yanbian and two each in Siping and Songyuan.
