IM Motors, a joint venture between SAIC and Alibaba, is scheduled to deliver its first electric model, the L7, from Saturday, said its co-CEO Liu Tao on Tuesday.
Liu said the carmaker will enable the Navigation on Autopilot function in August.
He said functions including smart driving, perception, socializing and evolution are among the most important features of smart vehicles.
The L7 sedan, empowered by a Level 4 platform, is capable of navigating itself in complicated traffic via its vision-based solution.
Among other things, it can change lanes automatically at speeds from 30 km/hour to 120 km/hour.
In terms of hardware, the model sports 11 cameras, including two 5 million-pixel ones and four 2 million-pixel ones, as well as 17 radar devices.
Established in late 2020, IM Motors is an electric car brand of SAIC Motor. Chen Hong, chairman of SAIC, said IM will launch an electric SUV in the second half this year and two other models in 2023.
