SAIC Roewe started to take blind orders on Saturday on the latest RX5 SUV and its variant, the hybrid eRX5 SUV, starting from 120,000 yuan.
Within one hour, the Chinese carmaker received over 10,000 orders on the models, a sign of their popularity.
The model has an imposing exterior, with Roewe's family design elements. It has a wheelbase that extends for 2,765 mm and a body width at 1,890 mm.
It has a 27-inch interactive screen, the largest in its segment. In terms of smart driving, the model sports 28 sensors and three Horizon chips, which make it the first gasoline model that can park itself.
The model is capable of firmware update over the air. In terms of driving performance, there are gasoline and hybrid options.
The RX5 sports the GS61 1.5-T engine and the DM21 PLUS transmission, generating a maximum output of 188 horsepower and a top torque of 300 Nm.
The hybrid eRX5 features the GS61 1.5-T engine and the EDU G2 Plus e-drive, cutting its fuel consumption to 1.4 liters per 100 km.
