The RCEP Forum on Intellectual Property (IP) Protection in Seed Industry was held in Sanya on June 2. Government officials and seed industry and legal experts from 15 RCEP member countries discussed seed industry IP protection and food security through both online and offline.
The forum was entitled "Regional Cooperation on IP Protection and Enforcement System to Promote Seed Trade and Technological Innovation for Food Security". It included discussions on issues such as how to realize regional cooperation in IP protection in the seed industry within the framework of the RCEP, as well asthe exchange of practices of RCEP countries in dealing with arbitration, trademark, licensing, and plant variety infringement in seed industry.
Participants from RCEP countries said that they will deepen cooperation in seed source sharing, breeding innovation and seed trade so as to promote innovation the seed industry, ensure food security, and achieve win-win cooperation.
The relevant person in charge of Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City said that Sanya is actively building a national pilot demonstration zone for the comprehensive protection of intellectual property rights and establishing a one-stop comprehensive service system for the seed industry.
