Deng Boqing, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), said on June 2 that the first shipment of materials donated by China to Sri Lanka will be shipped on June 3 from Shanghai, in a bid to relieve Sri Lanka's economic crisis.
The shipment includes food and drugs. Later China will deliver more batches of other urgently needed materials to help alleviate the country's lingering crisis.
The economic crisis in Sri Lanka is still ongoing, with prices of food, fuel and other production and living materials rising, greatly affecting its people's life, said Deng.
China will maintain close communication with Sri Lanka, provide assistance within its capabilities and support the economic and social development of the country, according to Deng.
