On May 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 35 new cases of confirmed infections (13 imported cases, 4 in Fujian province, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Yunnan province; 22 indigenous cases, 14 in Beijing municipality, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Henan province and 1 in Hebei province, including 3 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Shanghai municipality and 1 in Henan province), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections.

On May 31, 247 patients were released from hospital after being cured (21 imported cases; 226 indigenous cases, 101 in Shanghai municipality, 40 in Beijing municipality, 30 in Tianjin municipality, 17 in Sichuan province, 12 in Jilin province, 11 in Henan province, 9 in Guangdong province, 3 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Shandong province, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Qinghai province). 13,662 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 8.

As of 24:00 on May 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 18,686 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 18,460 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 226 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on May 31, the National Health Commission had received reports of 224,134 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 216,612 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,296 confirmed cases (including 120 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 4,097,197 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 168,483 were still under medical observation.

On May 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 96 new asymptomatic cases (50 imported cases; 46 indigenous cases, 10 in Shanghai municipality, 8 in Hebei province, 7 in Jilin province, 7 in Shandong province, 4 in Liaoning province, 3 in Sichuan province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Anhui province, 1 in Jiangxi province, 1 in Henan province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Yunnan province and 1 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region).

On May 31, 1,405 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (53 imported cases; 1,352 indigenous cases, 1,159 in Shanghai municipality, 87 in Sichuan province, 28 in Zhejiang province, 25 in Henan province, 13 in Tianjin municipality, 11 in Hebei province, 7 in Shandong province, 5 in Beijing municipality, 5 in Jilin province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Jiangxi province, 2 in Hubei province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Anhui province, 1 in Guangdong province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Qinghai province and 1 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region). 3 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (all were indigenous cases). As of 24:00 on May 31, 10,638 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 450 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on May 31, 2,365,464 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 332,398 in Hong Kong (9,378 had died and 62,255 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 83 in Macao (82 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 2,032,983 in Taiwan (2,255 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
