The construction of the Legoland Shanghai Resort resumed on Wednesday, according to the government of Jinshan district, where the resort is located.
The construction is being carried out under closed-loop management, with all workers made to live within the site. Workers also have to wear masks and undergo regular testing, said the district government.
Jinshan was among the first districts in Shanghai to achieve and maintain "zero-COVID", which refers to zero cases of infection outside quarantined and controlled populations.
"Jinshan has been resuming its economic activities while undertaking epidemic control measures. The resumption of construction for the Legoland will boost the confidence of the cultural and tourism industry," said Liu Jian, Party chief of Jinshan district.
The resort started construction in November, and was expected to open in 2024, according to its operator, Merlin Entertainments, which signed the cooperation agreement with Jinshan district for the project in 2019.
