May 26: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 25, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 130 new cases of confirmed infections (26 imported cases, 11 in Fujian province, 4 in Guangdong province, 4 in Yunnan province, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Chongqing municipality; 104 indigenous cases, 48 in Shanghai municipality, 36 in Beijing municipality, 11 in Tianjin municipality and 9 in Henan province, including 44 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 31 in Shanghai municipality, 9 in Henan province, 2 in Beijing municipality and 2 in Tianjin municipality), 1 death (an indigenous case in Shanghai municipality) and no new cases of suspected infections.

On May 25, 441 patients were released from hospital after being cured (21 imported cases; 420 indigenous cases, 344 in Shanghai municipality, 36 in Beijing municipality, 14 in Tianjin municipality, 8 in Henan province, 8 in Guangdong province, 2 in Jilin province, 2 in Sichuan province, 2 in Qinghai province, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Shandong province). 24,767 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 17.

As of 24:00 on May 25, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 18,562 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 18,349 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 213 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on May 25, the National Health Commission had received reports of 223,735 confirmed cases and 5,225 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 215,123 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 3,387 confirmed cases (including 170 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 4,042,261 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 205,599 were still under medical observation.

On May 25, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 415 new asymptomatic cases (59 imported cases; 356 indigenous cases, 290 in Shanghai municipality, 12 in Henan province, 12 in Sichuan province, 9 in Beijing municipality, 9 in Tianjin municipality, 6 in Liaoning province, 6 in Jilin province, 4 in Jiangsu province, 4 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 2 in Jiangxi province, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Shandong province).

On May 25, 4,191 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (66 imported cases; 4,125 indigenous cases, 3,926 in Shanghai municipality, 56 in Liaoning province, 18 in Tianjin municipality, 17 in Sichuan province, 15 in Beijing municipality, 14 in Jiangsu province, 13 in Anhui province, 13 in Henan province, 9 in Zhejiang province, 9 in Jiangxi province, 8 in Qinghai province, 7 in Jilin province, 6 in Hebei province, 6 in Shandong province, 3 in Guangdong province, 3 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Shanxi province and 1 in Hubei province). 44 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (all were indigenous cases). As of 24:00 on May 25, 22,128 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 428 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on May 25, 1,890,570 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 332,108 in Hong Kong (9,372 had died and 62,061 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 82 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 1,558,380 in Taiwan (1,554 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
