May 25: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 117 new cases of confirmed infections (15 imported cases, 8 in Fujian province, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Guangdong province and 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Sichuan province; 102 indigenous cases, 44 in Shanghai municipality, 41 in Beijing municipality, 7 in Tianjin municipality, 5 in Sichuan province, 2 in Jilin province, 2 in Henan province and 1 in Jiangsu province, including 39 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 32 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Sichuan province), no deaths and no new cases of suspected infections.

On May 24, 374 patients were released from hospital after being cured (10 imported cases; 364 indigenous cases, 268 in Shanghai municipality, 32 in Beijing municipality, 16 in Guangdong province, 14 in Henan province, 12 in Jilin province, 6 in Zhejiang province, 4 in Qinghai province, 3 in Hunan province, 2 in Jiangxi province, 2 in Shandong province, 2 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and 1 in Guizhou province). 24,169 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 5.

As of 24:00 on May 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 18,536 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 18,328 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 208 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on May 24, the National Health Commission had received reports of 223,605 confirmed cases and 5,224 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 214,682 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 3,699 confirmed cases (including 187 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 4,028,697 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 216,812 were still under medical observation.

On May 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 473 new asymptomatic cases (55 imported cases; 418 indigenous cases, 343 in Shanghai municipality, 28 in Henan province, 11 in Tianjin municipality, 11 in Liaoning province, 6 in Beijing municipality, 5 in Jilin province, 5 in Zhejiang province, 4 in Sichuan province, 4 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and 1 in Jiangxi province).

On May 24, 4,808 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (48 imported cases; 4,760 indigenous cases, 4,597 in Shanghai municipality, 36 in Henan province, 34 in Jiangsu province, 20 in Liaoning province, 16 in Zhejiang province, 9 in Anhui province, 8 in Jilin province, 8 in Qinghai province, 7 in Shandong province, 5 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Hebei province, 4 in Heilongjiang province, 4 in Sichuan province, 2 in Jiangxi province, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Hunan province, 1 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Guizhou province). 40 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 1 imported case). As of 24:00 on May 24, 25,948 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 435 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on May 24, 1,801,161 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 332,060 in Hong Kong (9,370 had died and 61,988 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 82 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 1,469,019 in Taiwan (1,478 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
