WND pilots promotion of high-quality development

Wuxi National Hi-tech District was recently rated as an advanced county/city/district in the promotion of high-quality development in the 2021 comprehensive assessment and evaluation of high-quality development in Jiangsu.

WND has seen a boost in development in recent years.

In 2021, WND's GDP reached 227.11 billion yuan ($33.57 billion), with the fastest growth rate in Wuxi. A total of 145 industrial projects, each with investment exceeding 100 million yuan were signed throughout the year, with a total investment of more than 65 billion yuan.

In 2021, the proportion of strategic emerging industries in WND in areas such as IoT, integrated circuits, biomedicine, big data and cloud computing ranked first in the city. A total of 69 enterprises based in WND were named "little giants".

During the same period, 2,450 science and technology companies were built in WND, a total of 351 firms were identified as high-tech enterprises, and 1,500 skilled workers began working in the district.

In 2021, WND was approved as a national foreign trade transformation and upgrading base in the biomedical industry, a total of 104 foreign-funded enterprises were established, two firms achieved provincial recognition as regional headquarters and functional institutions of multinational companies, and a total of 16 major foreign investment projects were signed into effect, with foreign investment exceeding $30 million.

Meanwhile, WND has also made remarkable achievements in promoting innovative development, deepening reform and opening up, improving the living environment of urban and rural areas, and increasing quality of life.
