May 15: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 14, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 239 new cases of confirmed infections (13 imported cases, 7 in Fujian province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Sichuan province, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Guangdong province; 226 indigenous cases, 166 in Shanghai municipality, 33 in Beijing municipality, 13 in Sichuan province, 5 in Henan province, 2 in Liaoning province, 2 in Guizhou province, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Jilin province, 1 in Guangdong province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Chongqing municipality, including 120 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 111 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Beijing municipality and 2 in Sichuan province), 3 deaths (all were indigenous cases in Shanghai municipality), and no new cases of suspected infections.

On May 14, 448 patients were released from hospital after being cured (15 imported cases; 433 indigenous cases, 290 in Shanghai municipality, 54 in Beijing municipality, 25 in Jilin province, 15 in Heilongjiang province, 15 in Guangdong province, 14 in Henan province, 5 in Zhejiang province, 5 in Jiangxi province, 3 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Shandong province, 2 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Sichuan province). 28,076 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on May 14, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 18,386 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 18,190 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 196 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on May 14, the National Health Commission had received reports of 221,804 confirmed cases and 5,209 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 210,454 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 6,141 confirmed cases (including 383 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 3,879,227 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 342,128 were still under medical observation.

On May 14, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 1,550 new asymptomatic cases (58 imported cases; 1,492 indigenous cases, 1,203 in Shanghai municipality, 196 in Sichuan province, 24 in Henan province, 16 in Liaoning province, 9 in Jiangsu province, 8 in Beijing municipality, 8 in Hebei province, 7 in Anhui province, 7 in Qinghai province, 3 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Jiangxi province, 2 in Shandong province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Chongqing municipality, 2 in Guizhou province and 1 in Jilin province).

On May 14, 4,331 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (45 imported cases; 4,286 indigenous cases, 4,003 in Shanghai municipality, 54 in Liaoning province, 46 in Jiangsu province, 40 in Jilin province, 39 in Jiangxi province, 34 in Shandong province, 24 in Henan province, 13 in Hebei province, 10 in Heilongjiang province, 8 in Zhejiang province, 5 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Yunnan province, 1 in Shanxi province and 1 in Sichuan province). 121 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 1 imported case). As of 24:00 on May 14, 58,878 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 481 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on May 14, 1,031,473 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 331,567 in Hong Kong (9,360 had died and 61,157 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 82 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 699,824 in Taiwan (1,049 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
