May 14: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 13, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 276 new cases of confirmed infections (23 imported cases, 17 in Fujian province, 4 in Guangdong province, 1 in Shanghai municipality and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region; 253 indigenous cases, 194 in Shanghai municipality, 32 in Beijing municipality, 7 in Henan province, 4 in Guangdong province, 4 in Qinghai province, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Liaoning province, 2 in Chongqing municipality, 1 in Jilin province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Shandong province, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including 148 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 140 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Liaoning province, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Guangdong province, 1 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Qinghai province), 1 death (an indigenous case in Shanghai municipality), and no new cases of suspected infections.

On May 13, 866 patients were released from hospital after being cured (9 imported cases; 857 indigenous cases, 721 in Shanghai municipality, 39 in Beijing municipality, 38 in Jilin province, 13 in Guangdong province, 8 in Henan province, 7 in Zhejiang province, 4 in Liaoning province, 4 in Fujian province, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Heilongjiang province, 3 in Jiangxi province, 3 in Hunan province, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Shandong province, 1 in Shanxi province, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Anhui province, 1 in Hubei province, 1 in Yunnan province and 1 in Qinghai province). 40,575 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 13.

As of 24:00 on May 13, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 18,373 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 18,175 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 198 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on May 13, the National Health Commission had received reports of 221,565 confirmed cases and 5,206 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 210,006 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 6,353 confirmed cases (including 384 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 3,852,915 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 343,896 were still under medical observation.

On May 13, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 1,796 new asymptomatic cases (70 imported cases; 1,726 indigenous cases, 1,487 in Shanghai municipality, 90 in Sichuan province, 40 in Henan province, 33 in Liaoning province, 24 in Beijing municipality, 19 in Qinghai province, 17 in Jiangsu province, 5 in Jiangxi province, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Hebei province, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Anhui province, 1 in Hubei province and 1 in Guizhou province).

On May 13, 10,638 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (48 imported cases; 10,590 indigenous cases, 10,168 in Shanghai municipality, 163 in Liaoning province, 79 in Jilin province, 52 in Jiangxi province, 29 in Shandong province, 27 in Henan province, 19 in Jiangsu province, 15 in Hebei province, 8 in Beijing municipality, 6 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 6 in Yunnan province, 5 in Zhejiang province, 5 in Anhui province, 3 in Fujian province, 1 in Shanxi province, 1 in Hubei province, 1 in Guangdong province, 1 in Hainan province and 1 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region). 148 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (all were indigenous cases). As of 24:00 on May 13, 61,780 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 469 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on May 13, 967,461 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 331,509 in Hong Kong (9,359 had died and 61,067 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 82 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 635,870 in Taiwan (1,009 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
