May 13: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 12, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 331 new cases of confirmed infections (19 imported cases, 15 in Fujian province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Guangdong province; 312 indigenous cases, 227 in Shanghai municipality, 42 in Beijing municipality, 15 in Henan province, 11 in Guangdong province, 8 in Qinghai province, 6 in Sichuan province, 2 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Shaanxi province, including 176 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 167 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Sichuan province, 3 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Guangdong province), 2 deaths (both were indigenous cases in Shanghai municipality), and no new cases of suspected infections.

On May 12, 614 patients were released from hospital after being cured (6 imported cases; 608 indigenous cases, 414 in Shanghai municipality, 93 in Beijing municipality, 36 in Jilin province, 9 in Henan province, 9 in Guangdong province, 7 in Jiangxi province, 6 in Heilongjiang province, 6 in Zhejiang province, 6 in Sichuan province, 4 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Liaoning province, 3 in Fujian province, 3 in Qinghai province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Shandong province, 2 in Hainan province, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Anhui province and 1 in Guizhou province). 30,726 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 47.

As of 24:00 on May 12, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 18,350 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 18,166 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 184 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on May 12, the National Health Commission had received reports of 221,289 confirmed cases and 5,205 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 209,140 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 6,944 confirmed cases (including 397 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 3,826,863 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 358,536 were still under medical observation.

On May 12, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 2,201 new asymptomatic cases (61 imported cases; 2,140 indigenous cases, 1,869 in Shanghai municipality, 94 in Sichuan province, 58 in Liaoning province, 35 in Jiangsu province, 29 in Henan province, 22 in Qinghai province, 10 in Jiangxi province, 8 in Beijing municipality, 5 in Hebei province, 4 in Zhejiang province, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Chongqing municipality).

On May 12, 6,787 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (48 imported cases; 6,739 indigenous cases, 6,360 in Shanghai municipality, 113 in Liaoning province, 67 in Jilin province, 35 in Zhejiang province, 33 in Hebei province, 25 in Jiangsu province, 22 in Shandong province, 17 in Beijing municipality, 15 in Jiangxi province, 14 in Henan province, 5 in Shanxi province, 5 in Sichuan province, 4 in Hubei province, 4 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Yunnan province, 4 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 3 in Heilongjiang province, 3 in Anhui province, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Qinghai province, 1 in Hainan province and 1 in Guizhou province). 176 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (all were indigenous cases). As of 24:00 on May 12, 70,770 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 447 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on May 12, 902,420 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 331,468 in Hong Kong (9,356 had died and 60,972 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 82 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 570,870 in Taiwan (968 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
