May 10: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 9, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 357 new cases of confirmed infections (8 imported cases, 3 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Sichuan province, including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case in Guangdong province; 349 indigenous cases, 234 in Shanghai municipality, 61 in Beijing municipality, 25 in Henan province, 15 in Guangdong province, 10 in Qinghai province, 2 in Liaoning province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Guizhou province, including 172 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 156 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Henan province, 3 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Liaoning province and 1 in Qinghai province), 6 deaths (all were indigenous cases in Shanghai municipality), and no new cases of suspected infections.

On May 9, 1,019 patients were released from hospital after being cured (12 imported cases; 1,007 indigenous cases, 847 in Shanghai municipality, 54 in Jilin province, 26 in Beijing municipality, 15 in Jiangxi province, 11 in Heilongjiang province, 11 in Zhejiang province, 10 in Liaoning province, 7 in Guangdong province, 6 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 5 in Sichuan province, 4 in Hunan province, 3 in Shandong province, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Shanxi province, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Anhui province, 1 in Henan province, 1 in Hubei province, 1 in Hainan province and 1 in Qinghai province). 45,375 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 18.

As of 24:00 on May 9, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 18,294 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 18,140 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 154 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on May 9, the National Health Commission had received reports of 220,397 confirmed cases and 5,191 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 207,138 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 8,068 confirmed cases (including 511 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 3,730,326 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 394,649 were still under medical observation.

On May 9, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 3,118 new asymptomatic cases (41 imported cases; 3,077 indigenous cases, 2,780 in Shanghai municipality, 98 in Henan province, 55 in Jiangsu province, 53 in Liaoning province, 35 in Jiangxi province, 17 in Qinghai province, 13 in Beijing municipality, 9 in Zhejiang province, 6 in Jilin province, 6 in Guangdong province, 3 in Sichuan province, 1 in Hebei province and 1 in Chongqing municipality).

On May 9, 8,215 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (62 imported cases; 8,153 indigenous cases, 7,672 in Shanghai municipality, 113 in Jilin province, 102 in Liaoning province, 79 in Jiangxi province, 40 in Hebei province, 37 in Shandong province, 33 in Zhejiang province, 27 in Jiangsu province, 12 in Anhui province, 9 in Heilongjiang province, 8 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 7 in Shanxi province, 5 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Hubei province, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 1 in Guizhou province and 1 in Yunnan province). 173 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 1 imported case). As of 24:00 on May 9, 87,294 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 452 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on May 9, 728,892 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 331,306 in Hong Kong (9,347 had died and 60,636 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 82 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 397,504 in Taiwan (931 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
