May 7: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 6, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 351 new cases of confirmed infections (6 imported cases, 2 in Fujian province, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Sichuan province; 345 indigenous cases, 253 in Shanghai municipality, 45 in Beijing municipality, 29 in Henan province, 8 in Guangdong province, 3 in Jilin province, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Hunan province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Chongqing municipality, including 185 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 175 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Jilin province, 2 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Guangdong province), 13 deaths (all were indigenous cases in Shanghai municipality), and 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai municipality).

On May 6, 1,878 patients were released from hospital after being cured (8 imported cases; 1,870 indigenous cases, 1,663 in Shanghai municipality, 75 in Jilin province, 47 in Heilongjiang province, 34 in Jiangxi province, 16 in Beijing municipality, 9 in Guangdong province, 4 in Jiangsu province, 4 in Henan province, 3 in Shanxi province, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Hunan province, 2 in Hainan province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Shandong province, 1 in Sichuan province, 1 in Yunnan province and 1 in Qinghai province). 41,472 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 72.

As of 24:00 on May 6, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 18,262 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 18,099 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 163 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on May 6, the National Health Commission had received reports of 219,296 confirmed cases and 5,166 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 204,155 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 9,975 confirmed cases (including 587 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 3,634,625 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 444,565 were still under medical observation.

On May 6, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 4,324 new asymptomatic cases (49 imported cases; 4,275 indigenous cases, 3,961 in Shanghai municipality, 98 in Liaoning province, 70 in Jiangsu province, 69 in Henan province, 22 in Jilin province, 18 in Zhejiang province, 10 in Jiangxi province, 8 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Shandong province, 3 in Hebei province, 3 in Sichuan province, 3 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 2 in Anhui province, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Guangdong province, 1 in Guizhou province and 1 in Qinghai province).

On May 6, 12,110 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (65 imported cases; 12,045 indigenous cases, 11,626 in Shanghai municipality, 142 in Jilin province, 36 in Shandong province, 34 in Jiangxi province, 30 in Hebei province, 30 in Jiangsu province, 25 in Heilongjiang province, 25 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 17 in Liaoning province, 13 in Anhui province, 13 in Yunnan province, 12 in Zhejiang province, 11 in Shanxi province, 11 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 7 in Fujian province, 5 in Hubei province, 3 in Henan province, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Hainan province and 1 in Sichuan province). 185 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (all were indigenous cases). As of 24:00 on May 6, 103,935 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 489 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on May 6, 599,832 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 331,181 in Hong Kong (9,344 had died and 60,323 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 82 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 268,569 in Taiwan (896 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
