The Chongchuan district – the main urban area of Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province – has done splendidly in a survey of China's top 100 innovative districts.
Chongchuan recently ranked 49th, the highest among Nantong's districts, in an assessment conducted by the urban economic research center of CCID Consulting, which announced its 2022 list on April 6.
CCID Consulting falls directly under aegis of the China Electronic Information Industry Development Research Institute at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
In recent years, Chongchuan has focused on promoting its high-quality development through scientific and technological innovation.
Moreover, it established the first sci-tech innovation committee at the district and county levels in the province and rolled out a slew of support policies on sci-tech innovation, talent introduction and sci-tech finance.
Chongchuan is currently home to one national and nine provincial specialized and sophisticated enterprises that produce new and unique products
Furthermore, it has 752 national small and medium-sized sci-tech enterprises which account for 19.3 percent of Nantong's total. The number of national high-tech enterprises in the district has hit 369, accounting for 15.6 percent of Nantong's total.
In 2021, there were 1,250 new patents for invention in Chongchuan, up 106.27 percent over the previous year, while the ownership of invention patents per 10,000 people reached 43.74.
Bolstered by the implementation of the Zilang Talent Program, Chongchuan has formed three industrial clusters – for integrated circuits, life and health, new materials – that are attracting top-flight personnel.
