A media tour for journalists to discover the advances being made in international logistics by Guiyang city and the nearby Guian New Area kicked off on March 21 in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

On the first day of the tour, journalists visited the Guiyang Dulaying International Land and Sea Logistics Port and learned about operations there.

It's a modern multimodal transport logistics facility whose first phase started up in April, 2021. The port is connected with the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor to the west, the Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe freight train service to the north and Beibu Gulf Port to the south, so that it can transport goods across the world.

Goods manufactured by companies surrounding Guiyang used to be transported by highways, which were more expensive and time-consuming than rail.

Each freight train can transport up to 3,500 metric tons of goods and can run whatever the weather. By March 21, the port had received and delivered 237,000 tons of goods, including grain, beverages, cement clinker, bauxite and brown fused alumina.

To grasp fresh opportunities – brought about by the recently issued Opinions of the State Council on Supporting Guizhou in Blazing New Trails in the Development of the Western Region in the New Era – plans are for the port to open more logistics channels connecting it with East, South and Southwest China.

In the future, the port is moving to accelerate the second stage of its construction, explore express transportation with high-speed railways – and offer more transport services for agricultural products, cold-chain logistics and the import and export of goods.
