May 4: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On May 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 362 new cases of confirmed infections (9 imported cases, 4 in Fujian province, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Shandong province, including 3 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Fujian province and 1 in Shandong province; 353 indigenous cases, 260 in Shanghai municipality, 46 in Beijing municipality, 12 in Henan province, 12 in Guangdong province, 7 in Heilongjiang province, 3 in Jilin province, 3 in Jiangsu province, 3 in Zhejiang province, 3 in Shandong province, 2 in Jiangxi province, 1 in Sichuan province and 1 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, including 159 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 151 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Guangdong province, 3 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Jilin province), 16 deaths (all were indigenous cases in Shanghai municipality), and no new cases of suspected infections.

On May 3, 2,092 patients were released from hospital after being cured (17 imported cases; 2,075 indigenous cases, 1,869 in Shanghai municipality, 74 in Jilin province, 42 in Heilongjiang province, 26 in Zhejiang province, 16 in Jiangxi province, 11 in Guangdong province, 6 in Beijing municipality, 5 in Jiangsu province, 3 in Shanxi province, 3 in Fujian province, 3 in Yunnan province, 3 in Qinghai province, 2 in Hebei province, 2 in Shandong province, 2 in Hunan province, 2 in Hainan province, 2 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Henan province, 1 in Hubei province and 1 in Sichuan province). 33,845 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 5.

As of 24:00 on May 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 18,225 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 18,065 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 160 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on May 3, the National Health Commission had received reports of 218,198 confirmed cases and 5,128 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 198,550 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 14,520 confirmed cases (including 620 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 3,546,694 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 469,877 were still under medical observation.

On May 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 5,136 new asymptomatic cases (61 imported cases; 5,075 indigenous cases, 4,722 in Shanghai municipality, 128 in Liaoning province, 46 in Jiangxi province, 38 in Jilin province, 32 in Henan province, 28 in Hebei province, 22 in Jiangsu province, 20 in Zhejiang province, 12 in Shandong province, 10 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 5 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Guangdong province, 3 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Anhui province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Hubei province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Sichuan province).

On May 3, 10,265 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (45 imported cases; 10,220 indigenous cases, 9,573 in Shanghai municipality, 210 in Jilin province, 98 in Jiangsu province, 84 in Hebei province, 47 in Anhui province, 35 in Heilongjiang province, 29 in Shandong province, 29 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 27 in Jiangxi province, 18 in Shanxi province, 15 in Zhejiang province, 12 in Yunnan province, 11 in Hubei province, 10 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 5 in Liaoning province, 5 in Henan province, 5 in Guangdong province, 5 in Qinghai province, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Sichuan province). 162 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 3 imported cases). As of 24:00 on May 3, 128,319 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 529 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on May 3, 504,904 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 330,880 in Hong Kong (9,325 had died and 59,814 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 82 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 173,942 in Taiwan (876 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
