May 1: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On April 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 920 new cases of confirmed infections (4 imported cases, 1 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Sichuan province; 916 indigenous cases, 788 in Shanghai municipality, 53 in Beijing municipality, 21 in Guangdong province, 16 in Jilin province, 6 in Shandong province, 6 in Sichuan province, 5 in Heilongjiang province, 5 in Jiangxi province, 4 in Henan province, 4 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 3 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Hunan province and 1 in Chongqing municipality, including 703 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 683 in Shanghai municipality, 11 in Jilin province, 7 in Guangdong province, 1 in Shandong province and 1 in Chongqing municipality), 38 deaths (all were indigenous cases in Shanghai municipality), and no new cases of suspected infections.

On April 30, 3,447 patients were released from hospital after being cured (12 imported cases; 3,435 indigenous cases, 3,055 in Shanghai municipality, 237 in Jilin province, 42 in Heilongjiang province, 15 in Jiangsu province, 12 in Jiangxi province, 11 in Guangdong province, 10 in Zhejiang province, 9 in Fujian province, 8 in Beijing municipality, 8 in Hunan province, 6 in Shandong province, 6 in Henan province, 5 in Qinghai province, 4 in Shanxi province, 2 in Hainan province, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Hubei province and 1 in Sichuan province). 31,383 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 11.

As of 24:00 on April 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 18,181 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 18,025 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 156 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on April 30, the National Health Commission had received reports of 216,587 confirmed cases and 5,060 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 187,525 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 24,002 confirmed cases (including 447 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 3,440,464 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 470,521 were still under medical observation.

On April 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 7,409 new asymptomatic cases (69 imported cases; 7,340 indigenous cases, 7,084 in Shanghai municipality, 57 in Jiangxi province, 47 in Liaoning province, 44 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 26 in Jilin province, 18 in Zhejiang province, 15 in Shandong province, 9 in Heilongjiang province, 9 in Anhui province, 7 in Guangdong province, 6 in Beijing municipality, 6 in Jiangsu province, 5 in Henan province, 4 in Sichuan province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Yunnan province).

On April 30, 17,380 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (68 imported cases; 17,312 indigenous cases, 16,021 in Shanghai municipality, 492 in Jilin province, 406 in Jiangsu province, 62 in Hebei province, 57 in Anhui province, 46 in Heilongjiang province, 40 in Shandong province, 36 in Jiangxi province, 24 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 23 in Fujian province, 23 in Yunnan province, 16 in Liaoning province, 15 in Hubei province, 14 in Henan province, 13 in Shanxi province, 10 in Zhejiang province, 10 in Guangdong province, 2 in Gansu province, 1 in Sichuan province and 1 in Shaanxi province). 703 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (all were indigenous cases). As of 24:00 on April 30, 180,362 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 590 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on April 30, 446,635 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 330,670 in Hong Kong (9,308 had died and 59,504 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 82 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 115,883 in Taiwan (865 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
