On April 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 5,659 new cases of confirmed infections (13 imported cases, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Fujian province, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Sichuan province, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Fujian province; 5,646 indigenous cases, 5,487 in Shanghai municipality, 47 in Beijing municipality, 42 in Jilin province, 31 in Zhejiang province, 7 in Shandong province, 7 in Guangdong province, 4 in Heilongjiang province, 4 in Jiangxi province, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Jiangsu province, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Henan province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Hunan province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Yunnan province, including 5,125 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 5,062 in Shanghai municipality, 31 in Jilin province, 28 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Shandong province, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Yunnan province), 52 deaths (all were indigenous cases in Shanghai municipality), and no new cases of suspected infections.

On April 28, 2,796 patients were released from hospital after being cured (14 imported cases; 2,782 indigenous cases, 2,480 in Shanghai municipality, 199 in Jilin province, 25 in Heilongjiang province, 18 in Guangdong province, 12 in Jiangsu province, 6 in Jiangxi province, 5 in Henan province, 5 in Hunan province, 4 in Shandong province, 4 in Shaanxi province, 4 in Qinghai province, 3 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Shanxi province, 3 in Zhejiang province, 3 in Fujian province, 3 in Hainan province, 2 in Anhui province, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Sichuan province and 1 in Yunnan province). 28,159 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 18.

As of 24:00 on April 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 18,163 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 17,981 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 182 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on April 28, the National Health Commission had received reports of 214,243 confirmed cases and 4,975 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 180,951 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 28,317 confirmed cases (including 417 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 3,345,519 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 455,300 were still under medical observation.

On April 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 10,029 new asymptomatic cases (87 imported cases; 9,942 indigenous cases, 9,545 in Shanghai municipality, 91 in Liaoning province, 76 in Jiangxi province, 46 in Jiangsu province, 45 in Jilin province, 38 in Shandong province, 23 in Anhui province, 20 in Zhejiang province, 18 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, 7 in Hubei province, 7 in Guangdong province, 6 in Heilongjiang province, 5 in Henan province, 4 in Hebei province, 3 in Yunnan province, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Hunan province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region).

On April 28, 15,884 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (66 imported cases; 15,818 indigenous cases, 14,994 in Shanghai municipality, 379 in Jilin province, 109 in Jiangsu province, 69 in Hebei province, 51 in Anhui province, 42 in Shandong province, 27 in Heilongjiang province, 21 in Hubei province, 20 in Jiangxi province, 20 in Yunnan province, 19 in Shanxi province, 16 in Henan province, 16 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 11 in Guangdong province, 10 in Fujian province, 5 in Liaoning province, 5 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Hainan province, 1 in Shaanxi province and 1 in Qinghai province). 5,127 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 2 imported cases). As of 24:00 on April 28, 197,213 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 601 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on April 28, 419,016 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 330,488 in Hong Kong (9,287 had died and 59,173 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 82 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 88,446 in Taiwan (860 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
