Yixing, a city administered by Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province, secured 20 projects worth more than 10 billion yuan ($1.57 billion) from April 12 to 14, local media reported.
Ten of the projects, worth a combined 5.3 billion yuan, will be located in the Yixing Environmentally Friendly Technology Industrial Park. The projects include two foreign-invested ones and involve healthcare, high-end manufacturing, environmental protection, and new energy.
The other projects will be established in the Yixing Economic Development Zone.
With approval from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Yangtze River Delta National Technological Innovation Center is a comprehensive technological innovation center built by Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui provinces and Shanghai.
The Yixing Economic Development Zone will partner with the center in the construction of a joint enterprise innovation center, research institutes, and a joint training base for graduate students.
Another project – the JITRI semiconductor material research institute – will make full use of Yixing's strength in the ceramic industry and cooperate with leading companies in the industry, including NAURA Technology Huawei, to develop more high-quality semiconductor materials.
Yixing authorities have utilized innovative means of attracting investment amid the latest nationwide outbreak of COVID-19. In March alone, they organized more than 80 video conferences for business negotiations and follow ups on projects under negotiation.
