Twenty-three Yantai products were included in the first batch of "Shandong Good Products", placing the city third in the province, which was due to the city's continuous efforts to speed up the intelligent transformation of its pillar industries, and promote the high-quality development of local brands.
Yantai apples have a brand value of more than 15 billion yuan ($2.35 billion), according to official data, and have ranked number one among China's fruit brands for the past 13 years.
These remarkable achievements are the city's attempt to promote the deep integration of traditional and modern planting technologies. In recent years, the city has beefed up efforts to advance the development of the "digital apple industry", and increase the added value of agricultural products, as well as to boost the market competitiveness of apples.
Yantai is now expanding in various markets for its crunchy, pink and red apples by upgrading old orchards and investing in automation, sorting and transportation to boost the quality and quantity of its products. About 600,000 metric tons of Yantai apples are sold in 82 countries and regions every year, including Southeast Asia, the European Union and the United States, according to official figures.
Yantai wine has also established a global reputation. At the city's Changyu International Wine City production center, advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, and 5G are fully implemented, allowing the production process to become intelligent and automated, which has significantly increased production efficiency.
