Hechi has been promoting development of its fishery industry during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), achieving an output of 68,000 metric tons of aquatic products in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 3.2 percent. The economic output value of its fishery industry reached 892 million yuan ($138 million) last year, showing a positive trend in its development.
In 2021, the city adopted technical means like land-based recirculating aquaculture to promote the transformation and upgrading of its aquaculture industry. Last year, the city added 373 land-based circular ponds and produced over 500 tons of aquatic products.
Through the investment attraction project, Hechi has introduced key leading aquaculture enterprises to form an industrial competitive advantage, with an investment of 3.2 billion yuan.

According to an official of the Hechi municipal bureau of agriculture and rural affairs, the bureau aims to complete the annual fishery work tasks, as well as promote industrial transformation and upgrading. The city will strive to develop a green, water-saving, and efficient modern fish farming model, while promoting the high-quality development of its fishery industry.
