On April 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 2,133 new cases of confirmed infections (14 imported cases, 5 in Fujian province, 5 in Yunnan province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Sichuan province, including 3 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Guangdong province; 2,119 indigenous cases, 1,931 in Shanghai municipality, 63 in Jilin province, 34 in Heilongjiang province, 33 in Jiangxi province, 15 in Zhejiang province, 10 in Qinghai province, 7 in Jiangsu province, 5 in Guangdong province, 3 in Shanxi province, 3 in Henan province, 3 in Hunan province, 3 in Hainan province, 3 in Shaanxi province, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Sichuan province, including 202 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 143 in Shanghai municipality, 25 in Jilin province, 24 in Jiangxi province, 4 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Sichuan province, 1 in Shaanxi province and 1 in Qinghai province), 11 deaths (all were indigenous cases in Shanghai municipality), and no new cases of suspected infections.

On April 21, 2,730 patients were released from hospital after being cured (29 imported cases; 2,701 indigenous cases, 1,732 in Shanghai municipality, 869 in Jilin province, 16 in Fujian province, 15 in Hainan province, 12 in Shandong province, 12 in Guangdong province, 10 in Jiangsu province, 7 in Zhejiang province, 5 in Hebei province, 5 in Sichuan province, 3 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Henan province, 2 in Shanxi province, 2 in Liaoning province, 2 in Heilongjiang province, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Anhui province, 1 in Jiangxi province, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Guizhou province). 33,923 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases increased by 28.

As of 24:00 on April 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 18,075 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 17,857 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 218 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on April 21, the National Health Commission had received reports of 196,086 confirmed cases and 4,674 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 160,599 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 30,813 confirmed cases (including 251 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 3,061,144 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 431,118 were still under medical observation.

On April 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 16,465 new asymptomatic cases (82 imported cases; 16,383 indigenous cases, 15,698 in Shanghai municipality, 244 in Jilin province, 124 in Jiangsu province, 77 in Hebei province, 56 in Heilongjiang province, 45 in Zhejiang province, 33 in Jiangxi province, 28 in Anhui province, 23 in Shandong province, 16 in Shanxi province, 14 in Henan province, 9 in Yunnan province, 6 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 4 in Liaoning province, 4 in Qinghai province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Guangdong province).

On April 21, 28,015 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (98 imported cases; 27,917 indigenous cases, 26,256 in Shanghai municipality, 1,135 in Jilin province, 129 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 96 in Jiangsu province, 64 in Shandong province, 55 in Anhui province, 54 in Liaoning province, 39 in Hebei province, 23 in Fujian province, 13 in Henan province, 10 in Hubei province, 8 in Yunnan province, 8 in Gansu province, 7 in Hainan province, 5 in Jiangxi province, 3 in Sichuan province, 3 in Qinghai province, 2 in Heilongjiang province, 2 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Guangdong province, 2 in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and 1 in Shanxi province). 205 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 3 imported cases). As of 24:00 on April 21, 249,507 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 726 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on April 21, 353,678 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 310,353 in Hong Kong (9,212 had died and 68,412 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 82 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 43,243 in Taiwan (856 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
