Foreign companies donate funds and supplies in support of Shanghai

Members of the International Business Leaders' Advisory Council (IBLAC) for the Mayor of Shanghai have donated supplies to aid the city overcome its latest COVID-19 outbreak, according to the Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (SPAFFC).

As of April 10, over nine enterprises from seven countries, including Britain, France, and the United States, had provided funds and supplies to the city.

Mitsubishi Group donated 100,000 yuan ($15,517) through SPAFFC to buy air disinfection machines for elderly care centers in the city.

"As an enterprise rooted in Shanghai for decades and a 'new Shanghainese' who has lived in Shanghai for five years, our company and I deeply love Shanghai. We have been considering how we can work with the people of Shanghai to overcome the epidemic," said Nakatsuka Junichiro, representative of Mitsubishi Group China.

CP Group has also donated 1 million eggs worth 2.5 million yuan to college students on campus and front-line medical workers in Pudong New Area. In addition, the group donated 500,000 nucleic acid testing kits to a makeshift hospital.

Meanwhile, more than 600 boxes of infant formula and children's milk powder were donated by Danone Group's Nutricia. The company also donated supplies to three quarantine hospitals for children.

Other enterprises such as L'Oreal China, Manulife-Sinochem Life Insurance, and HSBC China also made donations in various forms.
