The Hangzhou Asian Games Village, which is located on the south bank of the Qiantang River, is the largest non-competition venue for the Games.
The village features a variety of plants and environmentally-friendly buildings and aims to provide athletes, technical officials and media reporters a convenient and cozy living and working environment.
Energy efficiency, water and raw material conservation, indoor environmental quality, green living facilities, as well as elderly-oriented and barrier-free facilities were the top priorities of the design team before the construction process.
The "sponge city" concept has also been applied at the village, allowing it to store up to 800 cubic meters of rainwater.
