Suzhou in East China's Jiangsu province recently announced the city's list of urgently-needed professionals for 2021, 380 of whom are from Suzhou New District, a year-on-year increase of 31.5 percent.
According to the announcement, the winners were graded and awarded 150,000 yuan ($23,565), 90,000 yuan and 60,000 yuan, respectively. The 380 winners from SND received bonuses totaling 24.9 million yuan.
Among the SND winners, 28 have doctoral degrees, 208 have master's degrees and 144 have bachelor's degrees. They are mainly engaged in cutting-edge industries such as high-end equipment manufacturing (35 percent), integrated circuits (20 percent), green and low-carbon (16.1 percent), medical devices and bio-pharmaceuticals (13.4 percent), next-generation information technology (12.4 percent), and modern services (3.1 percent).
For example, Xu Jiahao, who joined SND's leading medical company MagAssist as director of the science and innovation department in 2020, was awarded the highest bonus of 150,000 yuan. She has helped the company independently develop its magnetic levitated artificial heart technology and apply it in various short and mid-term external life support devices.
Since the launch of the Suzhou Key Industries Urgently-Needed Professionals Project, SND has seen a total of 2,455 talents included in the project, receiving a total of over 170 million yuan in bonuses.
