Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, recently launched a raft of major projects that will start construction in the first quarter of the year, in order for the metropolis to achieve its annual development goals.
Guiyang's Nanming district started the construction of 12 projects on Feb 20 with a total investment of 6.16 billion yuan ($975.72 million), some 1.85 billion yuan of is scheduled to be fully paid up within the current year. The projects involve industry, shantytown renovation, infrastructure, old residential community renovations and people's livelihoods.
The Guanshanhu district launched 26 projects with a total investment of 13.91 billion yuan on Feb 10. The projects include 11 that involve new models of industrialization, 10 linked to new models of urbanization, one in modern agriculture and four involving the development of tourism.
The county level city of Qingzhen recently launched two major projects, including one aluminum foil production plant to cost 660 million yuan. The project will be on a site covering 120 mu (8 hectares) and it will have five production lines, with the facility expected to start up operations in October.
Another project is a production plant for gallium – a silvery metal used mainly in electronic circuits, semiconductors and light-emitting diodes, or LEDs. It will cost 50 million yuan and cover 12,000 square meters. The facility will be equipped with 39 sets of production lines and is expected to produce 40 metric tons of gallium annually.
Xiuwen county also launched five major projects recently, with a total investment of 528 million yuan. The projects include one involving the primary industry, two in the secondary industry and two in the tertiary industry.
