Rugao bonsai industry prospers

Rugao in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu, has been dubbed China's hometown of bonsai flowers and trees, and its small and micro bonsai industry has been thriving of late.

In recent years, Chengnan street in Rugao has been striving to develop a small and micro bonsai industry. In 2020, it created the first bonsai distribution center to integrate the entire industrial chain, including small and micro bonsai planting, processing, export, material production and supply, exhibition and online and offline sales.

In 2021, the wholesale and retail volume of the small and micro bonsai at the base was 200,000 pots, and nearly 1,000 people were involved in the industrial chain.

Nantong Tianheng Landscape Engineering Co Ltd on Chengnan street possesses a 3100-mu (206.67-hectare) flower and tree base. In 2021, the enterprise's turnover exceeded 500 million yuan ($78.5 million).

In addition, in order to expand the market, the enterprises have expanded their sales channels through live streaming. And with the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, the live streaming sales model has become even more important to enterprises.
