Sino-Japanese joint venture FAW Toyota launched the all-new Avalon on Wednesday as part of its efforts to further explore the upscale vehicle market.
The model, available in 9 variants, has three powertrain options, featuring a 2.0-liter gasoline engine, 2.5-liter gasoline one and a 2.5-liter hybrid system. The hybrid version's fuel consumption stands at 4.3 liters per 100 km.
Compared with its predecessor, the new version has made updates about its exterior, interior and smart driving functions.
Among other things, it sports the Toyota Safety Sense and the Toyota Connect systems. Wireless charging and a 10-inch head-up display are elements that may attract younger customers.
The new Avalon is priced from 199,800 yuan to 279,800 yuan. Its rivals include Volkswagen's Passat as well as Honda's Accord and Nissan's Altima.
FAW-Toyota introduced the Avalon into China in 2019. Last year, the model's sales hit 120,000 units, up 110 percent year-on-year.
