Yantai, a coastal city in East China's Shandong province, is beefing up efforts to promote talent-driven and innovation-driven economic development during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, with an aim to accelerate the high-quality development of its manufacturing industry.
Yantai will develop it into a manufacturing powerhouse in Shandong during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. The city will utilize its advantages in research, and release more measures to attract high-level talent, hoping to become a more vibrant talent pool in Shandong.
Efforts will also be made to accelerate the development of advanced manufacturing clusters, develop new competitive advantages in the manufacturing sector, and foster new drivers for economic growth.
An action plan nurturing high-end and innovative talent will be launched, which will focus on the city's 16 key industrial clusters. Efforts will also be made to reinforce and update weak links in several key industrial chains. In order to accomplish breakthroughs in core technologies and develop a collection of bottleneck technologies, the city will have a strong innovation capacity and core technologies. Yantai will cooperate with the country's leading universities, colleges, and scientific research institutions to build new innovation platforms and enhance the innovation capability of enterprises.
According to local authorities, Yantai will continue to support the innovation-driven development of small- and medium-sized enterprises, and a total of 150 outstanding innovative enterprises are expected to be cultivated during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
