Made-in-Suzhou medical devices facilitates COVID-19 fight

MagAssist, a cutting-edge medical company based in Suzhou New District, recently reached an agreement with the Beijing Anzhen Hospital of Capital Medical University to develop a new ECMO machine.

The machine will provide effective treatment to COVID-19 and critically-ill patients facing respiratory and circulatory failure. It is also expected to decrease the reliance that the domestic medical system has on imports.

"The technologies and international research and development resources we have accumulated will greatly facilitate the implementation of the project and boost the technological breakthrough of the new-generation ECMO products," said Xu Boling, founder and CEO of the company.

ECMO, which stands for Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation, is a cardiopulmonary support technology that maintains oxygenated blood supply to human organs.

MagAssist's ECMO machines have the same or higher standards in terms of hemolytic performance, coagulation function, gas exchange rate, and oxygenator pressure drop compared with its foreign counterparts.

Since its establishment in 2017, MagAssist has been committed to developing short and mid-term external life support devices to meet the needs of different populations and support diverse clinical scenarios across the world.
