The coastal city of Yantai in East China's Shandong province has released a wide range of policies to protect its local brands, and continues to invest in brand building to promote high-quality development.
According to official data, the 2021 China Brand Value List includes a total of 20 enterprises and one regional public brand, including the Yantai Apple, which has ranked in the top 10 on the list six times. Yantai apples have been classified as a geographical indication, demonstrating the expanding global acceptance of high-quality Chinese agricultural products.
Yantai has placed more importance on the development of the city's brands in recent years, announcing a slew of initiatives to boost their competitiveness. In order to help local companies develop in domestic and international markets, the city has accelerated the construction of well-known brands with local characteristics and implemented supportive measures to improve local brands' reputations, influence, and competitiveness.
The continuous efforts of the local government have yielded positive results. According to statistics, 33 Yantai businesses were placed on the Shandong Key Industry Brand Value List in 2021, while 35 businesses were shortlisted for the Shandong Province High-end Brand Cultivation Enterprise honor.
To date, Yantai has built 12 provincial-level high-quality production bases related to wine, silk noodles, woodwind, and health and medicine, all of which will boost enterprises' development and the city's industrial upgrading.
