The Chinese mainland has dispatched a group of traditional Chinese medicine experts to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to provide guidance on treating COVID-19 patients and preventing severe cases and deaths, the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine said on Tuesday.
The medical aid group consists of seven experts and is led by Tong Xiaolin, an academician with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and chief researcher at the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences.
The team also includes TCM researchers and doctors based in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, as well as Shanghai and Beijing, according to the administration.
It added that they all have a lot of experience in battling the novel coronavirus on the mainland.
Previously, the mainland had already sent three groups of experts specializing in treating serious COVID-19 cases or virus-control strategies to Hong Kong to help rein in its fifth round of outbreak.
