Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia autonomous region
Best viewing period: Early July
When the rapeseed flowers in southern China have withered away and their seeds been harvested, those growing in the far north of the country are just starting to bloom. In July, rapeseed flowers are on full display in the Hulunbuir Grassland in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region. They are the northernmost rapeseed blossoms in China. So if you miss the golden vista in early spring in southern China, plan a visit to Inner Mongolia, where the pastoral scenery of herdsmen riding horses across fields of yellow flowers will enrich you.
