Sun Guiquan, deputy to the National People's Congress from Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, made proposals related to the stable development of basic industries in China during this year's two sessions.
"Last year, the price of underlying commodities, including coal, rose sharply, which impacted the stable operation of upstream and downstream industries," said Sun, who is also general manager of Nantong Cellulose Fibers Co Ltd.
He suggested that the country enhance its capacity for manufacturing and supplying primary commodities and build a stable supply system involving domestic, overseas, and reserve resources.
The NPC deputy also suggested raising awareness of resource conservation, promoting low-carbon lifestyles, and developing a recycling economy.
