Recital gives new improv to traditional Chinese music

Zhang Weiliang, a master of traditional Chinese wind instruments, will give a recital at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center on June 12. The repertoire will include classical Chinese music with new arrangements and accompanied by the piano.
Zhang played the soundtrack for many world-renowned films directed by Zhang Yimou and Chen Kaige. He also composed and played the music work The Nature for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games Opening Ceremony.
