The number of serious cases increased by 3.

As of 24:00 on March 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 16,976 cases (reduced by 1 in Shandong province after verification) of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 15,345 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,631 confirmed cases (reduced by 1 in Shandong province after verification, and including 1 case in serious condition) and 14 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on March 21, the National Health Commission had received reports of 134,564 confirmed cases and 4,638 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 106,788 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 23,138 confirmed cases (including 42 cases in serious condition) and 14 suspected cases. 2,080,392 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 351,709 were still under medical observation.

As of 24:00 on March 21, 20,155 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 1,634 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on March 21, 300,270 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 278,185 in Hong Kong (6,119 had died and 34,885 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 82 in Macao (79 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 22,003 in Taiwan (853 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
