Hai'an firm assists low-carbon development of BRI country

China Tianying Inc, or CNTY, is a listed global environmental management service provider based in Hai'an, a county-level city administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province.

Stationed in China, CNTY is being focused and persistent in its ambitions to go global and has so far invested in Vietnam, the Maldives, France, Indonesia and in Singapore.

In 2017, CNTY got the green light to construct a waste incineration power plant in Hanoi – capital of Vietnam – in a project seen as being conducive to boosting the low-carbon development of the country, which is involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

Receiving over $350 million in investment, the waste incineration power plant covers 17.5 hectares of land and adopts advanced domestic waste treatment technologies from Europe that meet Vietnam's environmental protection standards.

With a design operating life of 49 years, it is said to be the second biggest one-time constructed domestic waste incineration power plant in the world, with a daily waste treatment capability of 4,000 tons and a generated output of 75 megawatts.

At present, Hanoi's daily domestic waste output is 7,500 tons, most of which is disposed of by landfill.

The current landfill disposal method is said to not only waste valuable land resources but has hidden dangers of environmental pollution. It is perceived that the buried waste resources could be converted into energy required for economic and social development.

After completion, the incineration power plant will be able to dispose of some 55 percent of Hanoi's domestic waste in an effective way, over the long term.
