Changan Ford kicks off presales of new Mondeo sedan

Sino-US joint venture Changan Ford started presales of its mid-class sedan Mondeo on Friday.

The model, available in four variants, is priced from 159,800 yuan to 219,800 yuan. It will hit the market at the Beijing auto show in April.

Different from its predecessor, the new model has a longer wheelbase and greater performance.

Thanks to its fourth-generation Ecoboost 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and eight-speed automatic transmission, the model generates a maximum output of 175 kW and a top torque of 376 Nm.

Another highlight is that the new Mondeo is built on the same electrical/electronic architecture shared by Ford's electric models.

That enables the new Mondeo to have a smart cabin and driving-assist functions as electric cars. It can be updated over the air as well.

The Mondeo is one of the signature products of Changan Ford. It was first introduced into China in 2004.
