Shanghai Shikumen architecture radiates

Shikumen is a traditional Shanghainese architectural style combining Western and Chinese elements that first appeared in the 1860s. Recently, the old Shikumen houses at the Xintiandi commercial zone had a face-lift after their front walls had been painted in bold colors.
