The number of serious cases increased by 2.

As of 24:00 on March 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 16,688 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 14,320 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,368 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 19 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on March 17, the National Health Commission had received reports of 126,234 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 104,624 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 16,974 confirmed cases (including 18 cases in serious condition) and 19 suspected cases. 1,959,395 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 274,786 were still under medical observation.

As of 24:00 on March 17, 12,786 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 1,802 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on March 17, 293,900 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 272,235 in Hong Kong (5,136 had died and 31,393 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 82 in Macao (79 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 21,583 in Taiwan (853 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
