Wuxi and Jiangyin were named "Jiangsu Provincial Ecological Garden City" due to efforts made to promote people's living environment, according to a recent announcement from the General Office of the Jiangsu Provincial Government.
Wuxi released a three-year plan in 2020, aiming to become a national ecological garden city. In the past two years, the city has added a significant amount of greenery, parks, and beautiful streetscapes.
Through unremitting efforts, the green coverage rate of urban built-up areas, the green space rate of built-up areas, the coverage rate of park green space service radius, and the urban per capita park green space area have all reached or exceeded the provincial-level ecological garden city assessment standards, laying a solid foundation for Wuxi to become a national ecological garden city.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) period, a total of nine comprehensive parks and 65 amusement parks were built in the city's urban area.
Liangxi district in Wuxi's downtown area also released a three-year plan to add greenbelts in 2021. According to the plan, Liangxi district will add about 120 hectares of green space within three years, aiming to improve the city's environment and provide more leisure spaces for residents.
