Yueliang Lake Park and Xingyue Lake Park in Guiyang big data sci-tech innovation city – located in the Guian New Area, Southwest China's Guizhou province – officially opened to the public on Feb 15.

The two new parks are ecology demonstration projects, sponge city construction demonstration projects and ecological civilization exhibition areas in the sci-tech innovation city.

After four years of construction, they have gardens, green belts, sightseeing boardwalks, management facilities, sponge city facilities and water supply and sewerage facilities.

Both have hundreds of rainwater gardens, covering a total area of more than 10,000 square meters. The rainwater gardens can store and purify surface water, as well as preserve the water with soil to supply the lakes.

The Guian New Area, which is home to the sci-tech innovation city, has been committed to garden city construction and environmental improvement in recent years. It has been improving its air and water quality to become a livable new area.
