North China's Shanxi province has been making real progress in the construction of its part of the Great Wall National Cultural Park, according to remarks made by Shanxi Department of Culture and Tourism on March 7.

Shanyin county in Shanxi recently secured 320 million yuan ($50.65 million) in investment and special funds to build the Guangwu Great Wall National Cultural Park.

The Guangwu section of the Great Wall in Shanyin, which was built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), is a masonry structure. It consists of various fortifications including castles, beacon towers and city walls, which are said to be of high military scientific research and tourism value.

In 2019, the Guangwu Great Wall National Cultural Park was officially included in the construction of the Great Wall National Cultural Park, becoming one of the 45 key projects in the national cultural park program.

As one of the 15 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities along the Great Wall, Shanxi has 470 sections of the Great Wall built in the Ming Dynasty that extend 896.53 kilometers, with 3,081 single buildings, 344 passes and castles, as well as 27 related relics sites.
