On March 9, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 528 new cases of confirmed infections (126 imported cases, 42 in Shanghai municipality, 33 in Guangdong province, 14 in Beijing municipality, 12 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 7 in Henan province, 4 in Sichuan province, 4 in Gansu province, 3 in Heilongjiang province, 3 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Jiangsu province and 1 in Fujian province, including 17 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 5 in Guangdong, 4 in Beijing, 3 in Zhejiang, 3 in Sichuan and 2 in Henan; 402 indigenous cases, 165 in Jilin province including 134 in Jilin city, 23 in Changchun, 7 in Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture and 1 in Songyuan, 66 in Shandong province including 56 in Qingdao, 7 in Weihai, 2 in Zibo and 1 in Yantai, 66 in Gansu including 40 in Lanzhou New Area, 19 in Lanzhou and 7 in Baiyin, 21 in Shaanxi province including 13 in Xi’an, 7 in Baoji and 1 in Hanzhong, 19 in Tianjin municipality including 14 in Xiqing district, 2 in Jinnan district, 2 in Beichen district and 1 in Wuqing district, 17 in Guangdong including 15 in Shenzhen, 1 in Yangjiang and 1 in Dongguan, 13 in Lianyungang, Jiangsu, 10 in Hebei province including 7 in Xingtai, 2 in Langfang and 1 in Cangzhou, 4 in Beijing including 2 in Chaoyang district and 2 in Haidian district, 4 in Shenyang, Liaoning province, 4 in Shanghai including 1 in Jing’an district, 1 in Hongkou district, 1 in Minhang district and 1 in Pudong New Area, 3 in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Zhejiang including 1 in Hangzhou, 1 in Wenzhou and 1 in Quzhou, 3 in Yunnan including 2 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture and 1 in Baoshan, 2 in Yuncheng, Shanxi province and 2 in Puyang, Henan, including 10 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 3 in Liaoning, 3 in Shandong, 2 in Shanxi, 1 in Jilin province and 1 in Yunnan), 10 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 126 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 8,550 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on March 9, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 15,836 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 13,385 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 2,451 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 12 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on March 9, the National Health Commission had received reports of 112,385 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 103,139 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 4,610 confirmed cases (including 7 cases in serious condition) and 12 suspected cases. 1,729,080 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 112,423 were still under medical observation.

On March 9, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 586 new asymptomatic cases (151 imported cases; 435 indigenous cases, 179 in Jilin including 149 in Jilin city, 25 in Changchun and 5 in Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture, 112 in Shandong including 91 in Qingdao, 14 in Weihai, 6 in Zibo and 1 in Yantai, 76 in Shanghai including 23 in Minhang district, 16 in Jiading district, 9 in Pudong New Area, 9 in Songjiang district, 6 in Xuhui district, 3 in Jing’an district, 2 in Huangpu district, 2 in Yangpu district, 2 in Baoshan district, 1 in Changning district, 1 in Putuo district, 1 in Hongkou district and 1 in Fengxian district, 22 in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan, 11 in Gansu including 5 in Baiyin, 5 in Lanzhou New Area and 1 in Lanzhou, 9 in Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang, 5 in Hebei including 2 in Cangzhou, 1 in Langfang, 1 in Shijiazhuang and 1 in Xingtai, 5 in Jiangsu including 3 in Lianyungang, 1 in Suzhou and 1 in Yangzhou, 5 in Dongguan, Guangdong, 2 in Tianjin including 1 in Hedong district and 1 in Xiqing district, 2 in Shenyang, Liaoning, 2 in Suzhou, Anhui province, 2 in Puyang, Henan, 1 in Haidian district, Beijing, 1 in Fangchenggang, Guangxi and 1 in Xining, Qinghai province). 70 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 58 imported cases) and 27 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 17 imported cases). As of 24:00 on March 9, 3,238 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 1,328 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on March 9, 259,738 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 238,657 in Hong Kong (2,869 had died and 24,486 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 82 in Macao (79 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 20,999 in Taiwan (853 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
